Apple may introduce Google AI technology, new Siri expected to be released in spring 2026

On November 6th, it was reported that Apple plans to use a 1.2 trillion parameter artificial intelligence model developed by Google to assist in the comprehensive upgrade of its long promised Siri voice assistant. The two companies are finalizing an agreement in which Apple will pay Google approximately $1 billion annually to use the technology. Google Gemini will help run Apple Siri features in 2026, and the new Siri is expected to be released in the spring of 2026.

The new Siri will rely on a customized version of the Google Gemini model, running on Apple’s private cloud server, with a focus on improving semantic understanding, multi turn conversations, and real-time information retrieval capabilities.

In addition to the upgrade of underlying technology, the new Siri will also integrate the “AI network search” function, which means Siri will be able to independently filter and summarize web content, reducing the steps of manual browsing for users. It is reported that the new version of Siri can read users’ phone call records, text messages, photos and other data, automatically plan their itinerary, query information and perform multi-step operations based on context, such as integrating flight information, planning pick-up routes, recommending nearby restaurants, etc.

Previously, regarding the latest developments in Apple’s AI, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated during the earnings call at the end of October 2025 that the AI enhanced version of Siri is still planned to be released in March or April 2026 with the iOS 26.4 system update.

Since its release with the iPhone 4S in 2011, Siri has always been centered around an “end-to-end closed system,” but its functionality has long been criticized by users, especially in handling complex commands, multi turn conversations, and real-time information retrieval. Apple has repeatedly postponed Siri upgrades due to technological development delays. Third party research shows that only 32% of iPhone users set Siri as their default voice assistant, lagging behind Google Assistant’s 58% and Amazon Alexa’s 41%.

Regarding Apple’s plan to introduce AI into China, on November 2nd local time, renowned technology journalist Mark Gurman revealed in his Power On newsletter that the AI feature “Apple Intelligence” that Apple had originally planned to launch in the Chinese market in mid-2025 has not yet been realized, and the release date has been postponed again. Gulman pointed out that the overall development process of Apple Intelligence faces technical challenges, including engineering problems and poor model performance, and deployment in China is even more complex.

According to Gulman, Apple had planned to advance the project through localization cooperation, but has not yet made substantial progress. The latest news shows that Apple may adjust its target to iOS 26.4 version and plan to launch it in conjunction with the new generation Siri, but it still holds a reserved attitude towards the specific launch time internally.

According to the financial report, Apple’s total revenue for the fourth quarter was $102.466 billion, setting a historical record for the same period and increasing by 8% compared to the same period last year’s $94.930 billion; The net profit reached 27.466 billion US dollars, a significant increase of 86% compared to the same period last year’s 14.736 billion US dollars.

However, Apple’s revenue in Greater China was $14.493 billion, a decrease of 3.6% from $15.033 billion in the same period last year, making it the only market in the world with declining revenue. The Americas, Europe, Japan, and other regions in the Asia Pacific region all saw growth. In the third fiscal quarter, Apple reversed the seven consecutive quarters of declining revenue in Greater China by implementing price reduction measures.
