Nvidia announced that it will provide a total of 260000 GPUs (graphics processors) to the South Korean government, as well as companies such as Samsung, SK Group, and Hyundai Motor Group. Among them, Samsung will receive 50000 GPUs to establish a “semiconductor AI factory”.

In this cooperation, Samsung will deploy 50000 NVIDIA GPUs to fully introduce AI technology into the semiconductor manufacturing process, covering design, process, equipment, operation, and quality control. In addition, NVIDIA and Samsung will jointly develop HBM4, which will continue to provide next-generation storage solutions and wafer foundry services including HBM, GDDR, and SOCAMM.

It is reported that Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun met with South Korean President Lee Jae myung during the APEC meeting, and the two sides had in-depth exchanges on South Korea’s AI development strategy.

For Samsung, this will be a crucial step forward in the field of AI driven manufacturing. Through cooperation with Nvidia, Samsung is expected to accelerate the research and production of next-generation semiconductors, mobile devices, and robots, enhance its competitiveness in artificial intelligence, and continuously consolidate its leading position in the semiconductor market.

Samsung Group, as the largest multinational enterprise group in South Korea, was founded in 1938. After years of development, Samsung has become a globally renowned enterprise group, with business covering many fields such as electronics, finance, machinery, and chemistry. Samsung Group has numerous subsidiaries, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI, Samsung SDS, Samsung Electric, etc. Among them, three subsidiaries have been selected as Fortune Global 500 companies.

In terms of business, Samsung’s business covers multiple fields, with electronics being one of its core businesses. Samsung Electronics holds an important position in the global consumer electronics market, with products including smartphones, tablets, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and more. In the semiconductor field, Samsung is one of the world’s largest memory chip manufacturers and also an important wafer foundry enterprise.

In terms of AI, Samsung is also actively laying out its strategy. In January 2024, Samsung launched its artificial intelligence product GalaxyAI at the Unpacked2024 launch event. GalaxyAI has multiple functions such as real-time briefings, instant circle search, generative editing, and automatic trimming, which can provide users with a more intelligent and convenient mobile experience. In addition, Samsung has signed a letter of intent with OpenAI for cooperation in the construction of global AI core infrastructure, involving multiple companies under its umbrella.

The cooperation history between Samsung and Nvidia can be traced back to 25 years ago. In the early years, Samsung DRAM provided power for Nvidia’s early graphics cards and extended into long-term cooperation in the field of wafer foundry. Prior to this collaboration, Samsung Electronics’ fifth generation high bandwidth memory HBM3E had received confirmation of adoption from Nvidia’s AI accelerator GB300, officially entering the core supply chain of AI chips. This progress marks Samsung’s return to Nvidia’s supply chain after a gap of about 19 months and lays the foundation for this deep cooperation between the two parties.

According to Samsung Electronics’ Q3 2025 performance report, the company’s revenue for the quarter was KRW 86.1 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 8.85%; The operating profit was 12.2 trillion Korean won, a year-on-year increase of 32.9%, the highest level in more than three years; The net profit is 12.01 trillion Korean won.

Driven by strong demand in the field of artificial intelligence, Samsung’s chip business saw a 19% increase in sales in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter, while its storage chip business achieved a historic high in quarterly sales. The chip business achieved an operating profit of KRW 7 trillion in the third quarter, a year-on-year increase of 80%.

This cooperation will not only bring new development opportunities for Samsung and Nvidia, but also have a positive impact on the development of the global AI industry. With the continuous deepening of cooperation between both parties, we have reason to expect them to achieve more innovative results in the field of AI and make greater contributions to global technological development and social progress.
