Apple will launch an entry-level MacBook in 2026

According to Bloomberg, Apple is developing a more affordable Mac laptop that is expected to be launched in the first half of 2026. The price of this laptop will be “far below $1000” and will compete with affordable Windows laptops and Chromebooks.

The current lowest priced Mac laptop from Apple is the MacBook Air, starting at $999, but students can enjoy a $100 discount through the Education Store. The Mac mini desktop is more affordable at $599, but it is not portable and does not come with a monitor or peripherals.

Although Apple has long released a more affordable version of the iPhone SE, Mac computers have always been a higher priced high-end device. PCs with lower prices have achieved success among students and users who only need basic functions such as browsing web pages and creating documents.

Low priced Mac may replace some entry-level iPad and keyboard combinations used by people, the latter being an affordable way to obtain Apple devices with PC functionality.

In the past few months, we have heard many rumors about Apple’s plan to launch low-priced laptops. Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo stated in June that this laptop will be equipped with a 13 inch display screen and feature the iPhone’s A-series processor instead of a Mac processor. According to reports, Apple will adopt the A18 Pro chip, which was first applied to the iPhone 16 Pro.

Guo Mingchi said that Apple may launch brightly colored Macs like the iMac, such as silver, blue, pink, and yellow.

This low-priced MacBook will not replace any existing Macs in Apple’s product line, and will be sold together with the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro equipped with the M5 processor that Apple plans to launch in early 2026.
