On November 18th, Huawei Terminal unveiled the latest architecture technology used in Huawei’s new folding screen Mate X7, which is officially referred to as the “ultra reliable folding Xuanwu architecture”. It will bring technological upgrades in water resistance, drop resistance, pressure resistance, impact resistance, and other aspects.

It is reported that the Huawei Mate 80 Series | Mate X7 and all scenario new product launch event has been officially announced on November 25th at 2:30 pm, with the Mate X7 promotional slogan being “The more you unfold, the more you will be moved”. It is reported that in terms of core configuration, the Huawei Mate X7 will be equipped with a new Kirin 9030 processor and support the second-generation Red Maple imaging, making it the most powerful folding screen phone in terms of imaging capabilities at present. In July of this year, Yu Chengdong also stated that this new foldable screen camera is currently testing two specifications of CMOS main cameras: 50MP 1/1.56 inch and 50MP 1/1.3 inch. The corresponding models are also equipped with physical variable aperture, 50MP periscope telephoto macro, and multispectral cameras, supporting high specification waterproofing.

On the same morning, Huawei officially announced that the Huawei Mate 80 series, Mate X7, and multiple new full scenario products will hold a press conference on November 25th.

Yu Chengdong showcased the actual exterior design of the Mate 80 series for the first time. This series continues the family’s iconic circular lens module layout, with a robust and atmospheric overall style. It is worth noting that a light colored circular ring of similar size has been added below the lens module, which is speculated to be a magnetic structure aimed at supporting the expansion and connection of more magnetic ecological accessories, further enhancing the flexibility and scene adaptation ability of the device.

According to media reports, International Data Corporation (IDC) data shows that in the first half of 2025, the Chinese smartphone market shipped 140 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6%. Huawei, with improved supply of Mate70 series, nova14 series “increasing quantity without increasing price”, Pura80 ULtra and other product advantages, won the first place in sales in the Chinese market with a shipment volume of 25.4 million units. In the second quarter, Huawei returned to the top spot in the Chinese smartphone market with a shipment volume of 12.5 million units and a market share of 18.1%, after a four-year hiatus.

Huawei’s foldable screen phones are also outstanding. According to IDC data, the shipment volume of foldable screen phones in the Chinese market reached 4.98 million units in the first half of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%. Huawei shipped 3.74 million units, accounting for 75% of the market share, becoming the first Chinese brand to surpass 10 million units in cumulative shipment volume of foldable screen phones.

In the first half of this year, the HarmonyOS ecosystem also developed rapidly. As of the end of June 2025, there were over 1200 product types equipped with the open-source HarmonyOS operating system, with a total of over 1.19 billion units, over 7.2 million developers, over 25000 applications and meta services listed, and over 450 ecosystem partners. At present, the number of terminals equipped with the native HarmonyOS operating system – HarmonyOS 5.0 has exceeded 10 million.
