According to Reuters, in order to cut expenses, Amazon plans to lay off up to 30000 company functional employees starting from Tuesday, October 28th.
This number accounts for nearly 10% of the company's approximately 350000 functional employees.
This layoff will be Amazon's largest since the end of 2022, with approximately 27000 employees laid off.
In the past two years, Amazon has been conducting small-scale layoffs in multiple departments, including equipment, communication, podcasting, and other businesses.
According to the insider mentioned above, the layoffs starting this week may affect multiple departments, including the human resources department called "People Experience and Technology", the equipment and services department, and the operations department.
