Thailand News  -- Latest Thai Poll Results: Prime Minister Anutin's Approval Rating Rises Significantly; Opposition People's Party Remains Most Favored, While Pheu Thai Party—Recently Forced to Cede Power—Sees Slight Rebound

According to a quarterly survey conducted by Thailand's National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) from September 19 to 24, which polled 2,500 Thai citizens aged 18 and above, approximately 33% of respondents expressed support for the People's Party, the largest party in the National Assembly.

Although the People's Party still ranks first in approval ratings, its support has dropped from 46% in the previous survey. Meanwhile, Thaksin's approval rating has also fallen from 32% in the last poll to around 23%.

The ruling Thai Pride Party saw its approval rating rise from 10% to 13%, and Anutin—who took office as Prime Minister in early September—experienced a significant jump in support, from 10% to 20%. For the Pheu Thai Party, which is effectively led by former Prime Minister Thaksin, its approval rating rebounded slightly from 12% to 14%.

Approximately 27% of respondents stated that there is currently no suitable candidate for Prime Minister or that they do not know who to support for the position. Thaksin and Anutin received 23% and 20% of the support respectively in this regard.

Anutin recently reaffirmed that he will honor the agreement reached with the People's Party to dissolve the House of Representatives within four months of delivering his policy statement. It is generally expected that Anutin will dissolve the National Assembly by the end of January next year, and Thailand will hold a general election between March and early April.
