According to a report by the U.S.-based The War Zone on the 20th, the U.S. military has sent F-35 fighter jets to the Caribbean region as it ramps up pressure on Venezuela.

The report stated that F-35A aircraft from the 158th Fighter Wing of the Vermont Air National Guard have arrived at a base in Puerto Rico to participate in the U.S.-initiated "Southern Spear" operation. The arrival of these F-35 jets marks the latest U.S. military buildup in the region aimed at pressuring Venezuela.

This is the first time F-35A jets have been deployed for this operation. Their inclusion has further strengthened the U.S. aerial forces assembled for "Southern Spear". In addition, the U.S. has deployed combat search and rescue aircraft, electronic warfare planes, MQ-9 Reaper drones, AC-130 Ghostrider gunships, and various helicopters.

Recently, the U.S. has deployed multiple warships in Caribbean waters near Venezuela under the pretext of "counter-narcotics efforts" and announced the launch of the "Southern Spear" military operation. Venezuela, however, has accused the U.S. of seeking to orchestrate a regime change in the country through military threats and expand its military presence in Latin America.

Under pressure from the United States, Venezuela's international air routes are currently experiencing widespread disruptions. As the new year approaches, tens of thousands of Venezuelans living abroad are forced to embark on a long 'curve home'.
