Cambodia accuses Thailand of ignoring calls for mediation from the international community, including China and the United States, and continues to launch armed aggression against Cambodia on Friday (December 19), with no easing of border tensions.

Thai Defense Minister Nadabang firmly stated that the Cambodian army will not withdraw from all conflict zones, and the two countries cannot reach a ceasefire agreement.

On Friday (December 19th), Nadabang attended a veterans' event and said, "If the Cambodian government and the people led by the Hong family call for peace while allowing frontline troops to continue provoking and stationed in the confrontation area, a ceasefire cannot truly be achieved

Nadabang also said that the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia is a bilateral matter and does not require the intervention of third-party countries such as China or the United States.

China recently dispatched Deng Xijun, the special envoy for Asian affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to shuttle between the two countries for mediation, and external forces such as the United States and ASEAN are also making efforts to mediate.

On Thursday, the Chief Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department, Piggott, said that Secretary of State Rubio had a phone call with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasasa, emphasizing that the US is concerned about the ongoing violent incidents along the Cambodian border and urging Sihasasa to take concrete actions to cool down the situation and re implement the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement.

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to participate in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur next Monday (22nd). Thailand has stated that it will reiterate the three major conditions for the ceasefire at the meeting, namely that Cambodia must announce the ceasefire first, the ceasefire must be effectively implemented and continue to be effective, and Cambodia must cooperate seriously and sincerely with the landmine clearance work.

Nadabang also accused the Cambodian military of carrying out indiscriminate attacks and laying landmines in violation of the Ottawa Convention, while criticizing the lack of international condemnation. The Cambodian side refuted that it only targeted Thai military targets and never launched attacks on civilian areas.

The Thai Navy announced on Thursday that a large number of weapons, including anti infantry and anti tank landmines, anti tank rockets, rocket propelled grenades, suicide drones, and mortar shells, were seized at a Cambodian military base. Some of the landmines were also accompanied by training instructions.

The new round of border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has lasted for 13 days. According to the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, as of 7am on Friday, Thai troops have launched attacks on Cambodia in multiple border areas and continue to advance deep into Cambodian territory. 18 people have died, 79 have been injured, and nearly 500000 people have been displaced in Cambodia.

The Cambodian authorities also stated that the Thai military has repeatedly shelled areas such as Opruk Donglei in Bodhisattva Province and Baizhan Village in Banteay Meanchey Province, deploying large drones to invade Cambodian airspace and even releasing toxic gases in the villages, seriously threatening the safety of local residents.

The Cambodia China Times reported that on Thursday evening, the Cambodian military shot down a Thai Air Force reconnaissance drone that had invaded Cambodia in the area of Bobe City, Banteay Meanchey Province.

Nadabang confirmed on Friday that a drone was shot down in Thailand and emphasized that losses are inevitable during the conflict.
