It's one thing if it's a career. Like Italy! Them no need for tipping because they are paid well. But in America they aren't paid so well. And rely on tips

但我觉得总体弊大于利
今天看到一个观点，在中国给小费会有点不尊重人的意思。感觉像是上位者给下位者的赏赐（类比古代主子给奴才的打赏）。提供服务者和顾客是平等关系，没有提供额外服务的话，顾客支付的价格已经是购买对等价值的服务了。如果确实想表达感谢，可以口头感谢，或者买瓶饮料之类
我去一家牛排店吃饭，支付的时候才知道被强制收几十块小费，可是我并不觉得服务很好，没有人主动询问我们要点什么，服务员还在服务其他桌的客人，甚至我们被晾了很久，还是我们找服务员，并且全程只有上菜，而且牛排不便宜，在我理解付了小费应该得到更好的服务不知道收小费的标准是什么
