Renowned blogger tries out 'Blade of Shadows Zero': it's no longer a soul game like Black Myth

Recently, renowned game host Maximilian shared his feelings with other testers during a live stream after experiencing the trial of "Blade of the Shadow Zero". He highly praised the combat system of this work, believing that its level is comparable to that of "Wolf" and "Elden Ring".

Maximilian pointed out that the duration and content of this offline trial far exceed the version during the 2024 Summer Game Festival, and the game scale has significantly expanded, making the game even more outstanding. He emphasized in the live broadcast that Blade Zero is not a soul game, and players will not drop items when they die, and enemies will refresh normally.

During the trial, the game encourages players to actively engage in battles with enemies. Defeating enemies can earn resources that can permanently increase endurance, thereby motivating players to repeatedly challenge levels. This is different from the setting of soul games, where killing enemies only provides experience points. In his opinion, the combat system of this game is more diverse than soul games, which only add some tricks to the simple framework.

Maximilian stated that the battles in Blade Zero are more like a less manic version of the game "Ninja Dragon Sword", with a wide variety of weapons, each equipped with multiple combo sets, requiring specific button combinations to trigger, and featuring a variety of ending animations.

During the live broadcast, Maximilian also mentioned 'Black Myth: Wukong'. A tester said, "I feel like I wasted money on 'Black Myth: Wukong', and 'Blade Zero' is exactly the answer I wanted. I've been looking forward to 'Black Myth' for many years, but it's more like a soul game with a lot of the underlying design of 'God of War', which disappoints me a bit

They believe that the battles in Blade Zero are like a dance, requiring real-time counterattacks, moves, interruptions, and other responses based on the enemy's movements. The design concept is to immerse players in it, rather than constantly rolling like in soul based battles. Finally, Maximilian believes that Blade Runner has great potential as a game of the year and has the potential to become a new benchmark for action games.
