How Galaxy AI’s Battery Optimisation Helps Your Phone Last.jpg
Battery anxiety is real — but Samsung Galaxy AI, adaptive power saving, and customizable modes are designed to help your phone last longer and smarter throughout the day.

Galaxy AI dynamically reallocates power to preserve battery life.

Adaptive power saving learns how you use your phone and optimises behind the scenes.

Custom “Modes”, performance settings, and app management tools put control in users’ hands.

It’s a familiar kind of modern panic. You glance at your phone mid-afternoon and see the dreaded red sliver of battery icon in the top corner just 6% left. You're nowhere near a charger.

There are several scenarios when this digital countdown is less than ideal: ahead of an important work call, midway through navigating to an unfamiliar spot, or when your mobile boarding pass is trapped behind a dying screen.

From commuting to videoconferencing to snapping photos and videos at a once-in-a-lifetime event, your phone has the capability to do just about everything these days—except consistently make it through the day. The creeping worry that your device might cut out at the worst moment is a stressor that’s earned a name: battery anxiety.

The good news is that the Samsung Galaxy S25 is designed to keep that stress at bay. Samsung’s latest flagship device pairs smart hardware with new AI-powered features that help your battery last longer—no need to enter panic mode.

What’s New With the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra

Battery improvements aren’t always flashy, but they’re one of the most impactful upgrades in a real-world phone experience. With the Galaxy S25’s new suite of Galaxy AI features, Samsung has introduced several under-the-hood enhancements designed to get the max amount of life out of every charge

The phone’s AI-powered, adaptive system allows you to stretch your device’s battery life without having to micromanage your settings. And that 10% boost has real-world benefits—you can stream your favourite new show during your entire train commute home, enjoy a longer night out without reaching for a battery pack, or simply relish the peace of mind that comes with knowing your phone won’t give out before you’re ready to call it a day.

Make Your Battery Go Even Further: 4 Pro Tips

Even with the Galaxy S25’s upgraded endurance, a few simple tricks can stretch your battery even more—perfect for long-haul travellers, festivalgoers, or those days when you’ve got back-to-back meetings in that one conference room with zero power outlets.

1. Optimise Your App Usage

This setting (under Settings > Battery > Background usage limits) lets your phone limit power to apps you rarely use. Simply toggle on “put unused apps to sleep” to utilise this feature. This way, the apps you open daily stay snappy while the ones you’ve forgotten about stay asleep—and don’t drain your battery unnecessarily.

2. Use Light Performance Mode

Tucked inside Device care > Performance profile, Light mode reduces processor strain without noticeably impacting performance—great for those days when you’re mostly spending your time on email, browsing, or messaging. This setting can also help keep the device cooler, which preserves long-term battery health.

3. Turn on Adaptive Power Saving

You can now set Power Saving to kick in automatically based on your usage patterns. To activate this feature, head to Device care > Battery > Power saving and hit the kebab menu option (the three vertical dots up top) to select “adaptive power saving.” Simply toggle the feature on and let it work its magic behind the scenes.

4. Leverage Routines and Custom Modes

The Galaxy S25 allows you to automate settings like brightness, notification alerts, sounds and volume, and syncs these preferences based on location, activity, or time. Navigate to Modes and Routines in Settings to create your custom modes.

Some of the preset options that come on the device include common “Modes” like Sleep, Driving, or Exercise. You can also scroll to the bottom of the list to create your own, and the settings allow you to get very granular with the conditions that trigger different “Modes”. (For example, you could create a “Date Night” mode that silences all notifications and dims your screen at 6 p.m. each Wednesday or whenever you walk into your go-to Italian restaurant.)

Which Galaxy S25 Battery Mode Should You Choose?

Both Adaptive Power Saving and Light Mode are smart tools built to extend your Galaxy S25’s battery life—but they serve slightly different purposes. Here's how they compare, and when to use each:

Prioritizes battery life and colling efficiency over processing speed

Best For

Daily users who want effortless, behind-the-scenes battery optimisation

Users looking to maximise battery life during light workloads or long days out

Choose Adaptive Power Saving if you want your phone to manage power for you.

Use Light Mode when you know you’ll need extra stamina—like during travel, events, or minimal-use days.

Power That Goes the Distance

Whatever your day demands, smarter battery life helps you make the most of it. Creators can film, edit, and share content on the fly without pausing to top up. You can take that international trip and rely on the translation app for hours on end.

And for anyone relying on their phone as a productivity tool, it means fewer interruptions—and more confidence that your tech will keep pace with your day.
