Samsung’s Galaxy S25 FE is now official and is catching up with its flagship counterparts that were announced in February and July.

The budget device has been unveiled with notable hardware upgrades, as well as the introduction of the One UI 8 user interface. Samsung is rapidly expanding its Galaxy AI platform, which it says is already available on 200 million devices globally, and is expected to reach twice as many users by the end of the year. The Galaxy S25 FE is being ushered in with several powerful AI features that were originally introduced in prior 2025 S series devices.

Labeling the device as the most advanced Fan Edition, Samsung has outfitted the model with an Exynos 2400 chip, 8GB of RAM and 128/256/512GB?internal storage options. Its 4,900mAh battery is also the largest ever on an FE device, supporting up to 28 hours of video watching, the brand claims.

In terms of design the device features a 6.7-inch display with a 120hz refresh rate and is supported by an aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ screen protection. Its four color options include Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy, and White.

As said, the Galaxy S25 FE is the first S series device to run One UI 8, which Samsung calls an intuitive interface. It includes such features as Writing assist, which allows you to check spelling and grammar or generate text with prompts, an edit tone.   

Gemini Live allows you to communicate with Google’s AI through your camera, to access information in real time. Veo 3 is Google’s engine for AI video creation, which is now accessible on mobile.  

The Galaxy S25 FE includes a professional grade triple rear camera, which includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, in addition to a 12-megapixel front camera. It includes an object aware engine and AI pro visual engine to bring such features as Instant Slo Mo, which allows you to quickly create a slow motion moment, Photo Assist, which uses AI to direct you into taking an ideal shot, Generative Edit, which recommends the background artifacts in an image for removal, 10 bit HDR for video for improved image quality, and Audio Eraser which removes unwanted background noises from videos.

Much like the recently launched Pixel 10 series, the Galaxy S25 FE comes with a six-month trial of the Google AI Pro subscription, which includes perks, such as access to the latest Gemini chatbot models, Gemini Flow, and NotebookLM.

The Galaxy S25 FE is available for purchase as of September 4, selling for $649, making it an affordable option in comparison to the standard Galaxy S25 model, which starts at $799. Similar budget models include the Pixel 9a, which was released in April at $499. The device has similar Google-powered AI features and subscription access, which came through software updates.

GlobalData Senior Technology Analyst, Anisha Bhatia noted that the Galaxy S25 FE has not been affected by the tariffs set in place by the Trump administration as the Galaxy S25 FE price is on par with the prior generation Fan Edition model. However, she added that the effects of tariffs will likely be more apparent with Apple’s upcoming product launch next week, in which Samsung, among other companies, has component investments.
