Samsung’s rumored tri-folding phone could be released with UI design and improved multitasking features thanks to its extended display. The proposed device, expected to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold could be made official by the end of 2025 at the earliest, according to SamMobile. Recent leaks showcased how Samsung could update its software to run seamlessly with the accordion style foldable display. Initially, the smartphone brand could be launching the foldable with a One UI 8.5, while prior rumors suggest it could run Android 16 as its operating system. The UI could include a feature called ‘Split Trio’ and would allow users to open three apps at the same time in full phone-sized windows side by side, as per the recent leaks. This would take advantage of the 10.1-inch main foldable display rumored for the Galaxy Z TriFold. In contrast, the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an 8-inch main display. It includes a similar feature that allows the device to have up to three apps open at the same time. However, one app can be opened in a full phone-sized window, while the other two have smaller windows, SamMobile noted. A second leaked UI feature could allow aspects of the Galaxy Z TriFold cover screen to be transferred to the main foldable screen; allowing users to take advantage of the Split Trio screen. This is being touted as a productivity feature. SamMobile noted users will likely be able to enable and disable the feature at will. While details about the Galaxy Z TriFold are far from confirmed, current rumors suggest it could include several features similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, triple rear camera, ultra-thin frame, and a large battery. If it doesn’t launch within the year, an early 2026 release is possible.
