Malaysian News -- Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has welcomed 4,216 new undergraduates into its full-time Bachelor’s Degree programme for the 2025/2026 academic session, starting today.
UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, said 3,831 students registered at the Johor Bahru campus, while 385 students were enrolled at the Kuala Lumpur campus, with a total of 3,850 local students.
He said the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying recorded the highest number of students with 628, followed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (482), Faculty of Science (448), Faculty of Computing (411), Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (390), and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (390).
"Programmes in the fields of science, engineering, and technology continue to be the top choice as they offer vast career prospects and remain relevant to industry demands, especially as UTM achieved 100 per cent in both the Graduate Employability (GE) Rate and Graduate Marketability (GM) Rate last year.
"Therefore, the popularity of these fields demonstrates students’ confidence in UTM’s ability to produce competitive and innovative graduates in line with global technological developments," he said in a statement.
Mohd Shafry said the university was committed to enhancing the quality of teaching and research, so that graduates not only mastered technical knowledge but also possessed ethical values, leadership qualities, and resilience, to become agents of change with a societal impact.
"In addition, we also prioritise student well-being with various initiatives to empower student welfare and to provide an inclusive campus environment for persons with disabilities (PWD)," he added.
