UPSI vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff said the enrolment of new students reflects public confidence in the university as the nation’s premier institution for education.

He said UPSI is not only an institution of learning but also a place that shapes character and values, making it a preferred choice for students pursuing higher education.

“The arrival of students from across the country, including Sabah and Sarawak, created a lively atmosphere during registration, with families present to support their children.

“The registration process, which began as early as 7.30 am, went smoothly with the assistance of 180 volunteers from the Intellectual Week and Suluh Budiman Student Interaction (MILLENIA) programme, together with UPSI’s Security Division,” he said in a statement today.

Md Amin also stressed that the legacy of Suluh Budiman, which has long been the foundation of UPSI, must be upheld by every generation of students. He urged future educators to balance academic excellence with manners and integrity, which he said reflect the true character of an individual.

Also present during the registration session were UPSI deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Dr Norkhalid Salimin, senior university management, including its senior deputy registrar Maskana Ahmad, and residential college principals and staff.

The new students are scheduled to attend Orientation Week on Sept 29 and 30, aimed at introducing them to the university’s culture, academic ecosystem, and campus life, while fostering friendships among peers.
