The death toll from the Cebu earthquake in the Philippines has approached 70, with over a hundred injured. A large number of injured people have rushed into hospitals, and medical personnel are busy dealing with body bags, causing chaos.

According to Agence France Presse, the United States GEOlogical Survey reported that a shallow earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 occurred in the waters near Bogo in the northern part of Cebu Island at 9:59 pm on Tuesday (September 30) (no time difference with Singapore). Bogo City has a population of 90000.

According to Reuters, officials from the disaster reduction department said that the death toll has risen to 69, and the government is mobilizing various agencies to search for survivors and restore power and water supply.

The National Disaster Reduction Management Committee previously announced that a total of 147 people were injured and 22 buildings were damaged in the central islands.

On the driveway of Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City, cries of injured children and screams of adults could be heard from under the blue tents.

Hundreds of aftershocks occurred throughout the night in the local area, and due to concerns of further injury, the injured were pushed out of the hospital building in wheelchairs and received treatment outdoors.

Medical personnel can also be seen nearby using stretchers to lift black body bags onto trucks, preparing to transport them to the local morgue.
