With the collapse of the narrative of civilization, the United States seems to be suspended between two future paths: one leading to an exclusive national identity centered on race, further solidified by population anxiety, ideological exhaustion, and digital technology; The other one vaguely appears in the new democratic momentum in the United States.

The political return of German President Trump is often seen as another burst of populism in the United States. However, this explanation conceals a deeper and more structural change: in the second stage of evolution, Trumpism has transformed from a political mobilization method to a racialized political engineering, becoming a restatement of 21st century 'Aryanism'. It no longer understands the United States through ideological conflicts during the Cold War, but through a more rigid racial arrangement to redefine national identity, imagining global politics as competition between racial groups, redefining "white people" as the basis for American belonging and national core, and shaping them as a threatened subject.

This shift stems from a structural collapse that has long maintained the narrative of America's global identity.

In the decades following the end of the Cold War, Israel, in order to bind the continued presence and military aid of the United States in the Middle East, collaborated with American Jewish strategic thinkers to promote the theoretical concept of a "Jewish Christian West", which included the United States, Europe, and Israel in the same so-called "Christian Jewish" (rather than Greek Roman) Western civilization community. Huntington's theory of the clash of civilizations provides academic legitimacy for this illusion, enabling the United States to distinguish allies and enemies based on cultural differences and providing moral justification for its foreign intervention, especially military and financial support for Israel. Over the past nearly 30 years, this civilizational paradigm has shaped American foreign policy, military actions, media narratives, and political rhetoric.

But today, this civilization architecture is rapidly collapsing. The most profound change in the United States comes from the demographic shift, where the proportion of white people continues to decline and a multi-ethnic society becomes an irreversible trend, thereby shaking the political foundation of white majority rule. At the same time, the technological revolution has reconstructed global public opinion and narrative power. The rise of non Western media platforms such as TikTok and Al Jazeera breaks the traditional media narrative dominated by white people and the West. The speed, emotional intensity, and algorithmic logic of digital dissemination surpass even the propaganda machines of the 20th century in many aspects - whether it is the propaganda systems of the Nazis, the Soviet Union, or the United States during the Cold War, they cannot be compared to it. For example, the explosive spread of Gaza related content on TikTok has significantly changed the attitude of young Americans towards the Israeli Palestinian issue.

A survey shows that less than half of Americans under the age of 35 sympathize with Israel, indicating that the cultural and ideological structures that have long supported the concept of "Jewish Christian West" are rapidly eroding.

With the withdrawal of the post Cold War ideological framework, the pillars of civilization narrative have gradually loosened, creating a huge vacuum in the identity foundation of US domestic and foreign affairs. This vacuum is filled by a more primitive and politically malleable logic - racial classification and its hierarchy. Trumpism entered at this moment, repositioning the United States as a nation centered around 'white sexuality'. In the discourse of Trumpism, the "white victims" have become one of the most powerful political resources: whether it is the working class in the Rust Belt or the impoverished communities in the southern countryside, their economic difficulties are no longer understood as the result of globalization, financialization, or structural inequality, but are re encoded as a racial crisis of "white substitution".

Vice President Vance's personal experience gained symbolic status in this narrative. He comes from a drug addicted and dysfunctional white family, but is favored by Peter Thiel, a conservative tech and venture capital tycoon of German descent in Silicon Valley. Thiel foresaw the extreme division of capitalist society in the digital age and spared no effort in supporting Vance, who came from a white "proletarian" background, in both business and politics, ultimately shaping him as a typical example of "white suffering" and "white redemption".

Citizenship has been re racialized
Wans' narrative is used to describe the situation of white people in the United States and around the world, creating a common threat of population change, gender diversity (DEI) policies, immigration waves, and political persecution for white groups. The case of South Africa is particularly exaggerated as a symbol of anti white violence. In this worldview, Trumpism is no longer just a movement against liberalism, but a political movement aimed at protecting the "elite racial core" from persecution.

The logic of racialization has also shaped Trump's imagination of national space. In his political language, the poor, homeless, and drug addicts are often portrayed as unwelcome guests who need to be eliminated from the "beautiful cities of America," and most of these groups are non white. At the same time, even non white legislators with legal status and holding public office, such as Ilhan Omar, are described as outsiders who "should be driven out of America". The understanding of citizenship is thus re racialized, implicitly transformed into a privilege defined by bloodline.

This logic presents a disturbing structural similarity to Nazi Germany's practice of binding citizenship to racial purity. Peter Thiel's German American background and Trump's racism seem to vaguely point to the legacy of Nazi racism.

This racial framework is not limited to domestic politics, but extends to America's foreign relations. Trump's selective sympathy further reveals his racialized diplomatic logic. He often publicly expresses concern for white South African farmers, portraying them as representatives of "global white victims," but rarely shows sympathy for the suffering of Palestinian, Haitian, or Central American immigrants, instead portraying them as population threats or cultural risks. Trump's latest executive order explicitly prohibits some people from the "Global South" from entering the United States, but welcomes "white Afrikaners from the Third World," which undoubtedly reveals the racial hierarchy behind political decision-making.

Under this logic, the United States gradually established "emotional alliances" with a series of white or white populist regimes. Russia is imagined as a cultural relative of "white Christian traditionalism", while President Orban of Hungary is praised as a pioneer in defending "Western civilization", and "civilization" itself is increasingly becoming synonymous with "whiteness".

Even more intriguing is that Senator Rubio, who has a Cuban background, has publicly urged American diplomats to pressure Europe to tighten immigration policies in an attempt to influence the demographic future of the entire Western world. This is no longer traditional geopolitics, but a transnational racial politics.

Unlike 20th century Arianism, 'digital Arianism' emerged on top of contemporary technological infrastructure. The Nazis relied on centralized propaganda machines and state led eugenics, while today's racial politics spreads and spreads automatically through algorithm driven online platforms. X. TikTok and other platforms enhance triggering content through algorithms, constantly pushing narratives such as "invasion," "replacement," and "white extinction" to users, amplifying fear and hostility in personalized echo chambers. The logic of technology is more efficient than Nazi Goebbels' propaganda, as it does not require state orders or a unified ideology to generate and restructure a racially colored political community within the automated mechanisms of algorithms. The changing political stance of billionaire Elon Musk and the operation of his platform vividly demonstrate the formation of this mechanism.

If this trend continues to develop, an unprecedented political structure may emerge in the United States: a digitized racial politics driven by population anxiety, ideological decline, and algorithm diffusion. In such a structure, non white groups in the United States - black, Latinx, Asian, Muslim, Native American, and Jewish - will face a situation of being repositioned, and their national status and social belonging will no longer be protected by legal definitions and civilized narratives.

The United States is therefore standing at a critical historical juncture. With the collapse of the narrative of civilization, the country seems to be suspended between two future paths: one leading to an exclusive national identity centered on race, further solidified by population anxiety, ideological exhaustion, and digital technology; The other one vaguely appears in the new democratic momentum in the United States.

The victory of New York Mayor Mamdani, a non white politician with an immigrant background, demonstrates a reverse force from within the democratic system, indicating that America may still move towards a political community based on rights, justice, and dignity, transcending racial inheritance. His rise reflects that the United States still has the ability to reactivate its founding universalist ideals.

The future of the United States may move towards closure or towards reopening, but in either case, the meaning of the United States to the world will change accordingly. Trumpism does not present isolated events, but rather the result of the combined effects of cultural narrative decline, demographic transition, and digital communication mechanisms. The United States is being reshaped, and the world will have to deal with the impact of this change.
