As someone who’s always chasing outdoor adventures—whether it’s a crisp morning hike in the Peak District, a weekend camping trip by the lake, or just a brisk walk through the local woods—I’ve learned that a good fleece is non-negotiable. It needs to be warm enough to fend off chilly breezes, lightweight enough to layer without bulk, and durable enough to keep up with my on-the-go lifestyle. When I spotted the Women’s Ridgeline Narvik Fleece on Outdoor and Country’s website, marked down from £29.99 to £23.99 (that’s 20% off, or £19.99 excluding VAT), I was intrigued. At that price point, I wasn’t sure if it could live up to my expectations—but after weeks of testing it in every outdoor scenario imaginable, this fleece has become my new go-to, proving that Ridgeline knows how to deliver quality without the steep price tag.

First off, let’s talk about the design. The Mushroom color I chose is a soft, neutral tone that pairs seamlessly with everything in my outdoor wardrobe—from cargo pants to leggings to waterproof jackets. It’s understated yet stylish, avoiding the loud patterns that can make some outdoor gear feel tacky, and instead opting for a clean, timeless look that works just as well for post-hike coffee runs as it does for trail adventures. The zip-neck design is a game-changer for versatility: zip it all the way up for a high collar that blocks cold winds, or unzip it slightly for extra ventilation when I’m working up a sweat on a steep climb. The easy-grab zip puller is a small detail that makes a big difference—even with gloved hands, I can adjust the zip quickly without fumbling.

Comfort is where the Ridgeline Narvik Fleece truly shines. Made from 100% polyester 180gsm fleece, it strikes the perfect balance between warmth and lightness. I was worried that a budget-friendly fleece might feel scratchy or cheap, but this one is surprisingly soft against the skin. It provides just the right amount of insulation for cool days—think 5-15°C—without making me overheat when I’m active. The breathability is impressive too; during a three-hour hike with plenty of uphill sections, I stayed warm without breaking a sweat underneath, which is a huge win for layering. And when the sun came out mid-afternoon and temperatures rose, I simply stuffed it into my backpack—its compressible design means it takes up barely any space, weighing next to nothing so it doesn’t weigh me down.

Durability is another pleasant surprise. I’ve worn this fleece at least a dozen times since purchasing it, throwing it in the wash after each use (following the care instructions, of course), and it still looks and feels brand new. The stitching is neat and sturdy, with no loose threads or fraying, and the fleece itself hasn’t pilled—something that plagues even more expensive options. I’ve brushed up against tree branches, knelt on rocky terrain, and even accidentally spilled coffee on it, and it’s held up remarkably well. The quick-drying feature is a lifesaver too; after getting caught in a light drizzle during a walk, the fleece dried out completely within an hour, no musty odors or damp spots left behind.

Let’s not overlook the practical details that make this fleece so functional. The high collar adds an extra layer of protection against cold winds, keeping my neck warm without feeling restrictive. The ventilating neck zip is genius for temperature regulation—on days when the weather is unpredictable, I can zip up for warmth when the wind picks up, then unzip to let in fresh air when I’m moving. And at 180gsm, it’s the ideal weight for layering: I’ve worn it under a waterproof jacket on rainy days, over a base layer on frosty mornings, and even on its own during mild afternoons. It’s versatile enough to be my only mid-layer for most of the year, which simplifies packing for trips.

Shopping for the Ridgeline Narvik Fleece on Outdoor and Country’s website was a breeze. The product page is clear and informative, with detailed descriptions of the features, material, and sizing—no vague claims or missing information. The 20% discount was prominently displayed, which made the decision to buy even easier, and the price excluding VAT (£19.99) is a great option for those who qualify. Delivery was fast—my fleece arrived within three business days—and it was packaged securely, with no damage during transit. I appreciated that the product code (050891) was clearly listed, making it easy to track my order or reach out to customer service if needed.

At just £23.99, the Women’s Ridgeline Narvik Fleece is a steal. It holds its own against fleece jackets twice the price, offering the same level of warmth, comfort, and functionality. Ridgeline has built a reputation for creating reliable outdoor gear that’s accessible to everyone, and this fleece is a perfect example of that. It’s not just a budget option—it’s a high-quality piece of clothing that’s designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker, a casual camper, or just someone who wants a warm, stylish fleece for everyday wear, this one delivers on all fronts.

I’ve already recommended the Ridgeline Narvik Fleece to several friends—especially those who love spending time outdoors but don’t want to splurge on expensive gear. It’s the kind of fleece that you’ll reach for again and again, season after season, without worrying about it wearing out or going out of style. The Mushroom color is versatile, the fit is flattering (true to size, with enough room to layer without feeling baggy), and the features are thought out to meet the needs of anyone who loves being outside.

In conclusion, the Women’s Ridgeline Narvik Fleece is a standout product that proves you don’t have to pay a fortune for quality outdoor wear. Ridgeline has combined warmth, comfort, style, and practicality into one affordable package, and the result is a fleece that’s perfect for any outdoor adventure or casual outing. From the soft 100% polyester fabric to the ventilating zip and compressible design, every detail is designed to enhance your experience. If you’re in the market for a reliable, stylish fleece that won’t break the bank, look no further than the Ridgeline Narvik—it’s quickly become my favorite piece of outdoor gear, and I’m confident it will become yours too.

Great product, fits true to size, gorgeous colour. It would be perfect if it had pockets! Material is great though, warm but not heavy and easy to layer and looks smart on.

Bought as a gift for my endurance riding sister to make her feel glamorous when she trots in from a 60K ride. She'll look dead glam and feel super cosy
