Disney+ and Hulu will soon be merging into a single streaming service, with one login working for both (but you can watch Hulu content in a Disney+ channel or in its own app for now). Figuring out which programming goes where seems to be their big challenge right now, with many movies and shows overlapping. The new year brings a pretty impressive slate of content here, with a new Marvel show, tons of movies, and hit TV premieres. Here are our picks for the best of the month on Disney+ and Hulu.

Documentary films aren't often known for innovative storytelling, but everything we've seen from The Tale Of Silyan has blown me away. This Macedonian film revolves around a folktale where a young boy wishes to leave his small village, so he is transformed into a stork. When farmer Nikola Conev sees his livelihood evaporating as Macedonia's economy collapses, his family flees to Germany for a better life. Staying behind, he rescues a white stork and bonds with it as both try to survive.

Based on a comic book, The Beauty springs from the mind of Ryan Murphy so you know it's gonna push the limits. A pair of FBI agents are sent to Paris when models start dying in gruesome ways, only to discover that the fashion industry has been seized by a sexually transmitted virus that transforms people to peak physical perfection... for a while. What would you give up for good looks? How about everything?

It's funny how the excitement level for Disney+'s Marvel shows seems to have waned over time. The trailer for Wonder Man even starts with "People are tired of superheroes," and instead of dribbling them out an episode a week, they're now dumping whole series on the same day. That says, this looks like it could be fun, as Simon Williams reads for the title role only to find that being a hero on the screen isn't as easy as it seems.
