German Foreign Minister Walder said on Monday (December 8) that China is still far from agreeing to issue a universal export license for rare earth minerals that German manufacturers rely on.

According to Reuters, during an interview with German television channel 2 in Beijing, Walder said, "We have received some signals, but there is still a lot of work to be done
A spokesperson for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Walder is expected to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China Liu Haixing in Beijing on Monday, focusing on the economic relationship between the two countries. Wade Fur will travel south to Guangzhou for a visit on Tuesday (9th).

In the context of increasingly tense international situations and geopolitical turmoil, direct and in-depth exchanges with China are necessary and indispensable, "said Wade Fur in his speech before leaving
He said, "There are many questions that are obviously not easy to find answers to, and the views of the two countries are sometimes extremely different. But it is obvious that the freedom, security, and prosperity of Germany and Europe are closely linked to China
In an interview with Reuters in October, Walder said he planned to urge China to relax export controls on products such as rare earths and semiconductors. These products are crucial for the industrial development of Germany.
