The Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs of China released the latest data on Tuesday (August 12). In the first seven months of this year, Guangdong's foreign trade imports and exports amounted to 540 billion yuan (RMB, the same below, SGD 960 billion), a year-on-year increase of 4.3%. Among them, exports amounted to 3440 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%; Imports amounted to 196 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%.
In the first seven months, ASEAN was Guangdong's largest trading partner, with Guangdong's imports and exports to ASEAN reaching 889.2 billion yuan, an increase of 5.8%; Hong Kong is the second largest trading partner, with imports and exports of 675.5 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5%; The EU is the third largest trading partner, with imports and exports of 643.1 billion yuan, an increase of 7.8%. Over the same period, Guangdong's import and export to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" totaled 210 billion yuan, up 4%, accounting for 39% of Guangdong's total import and export value.
The proportion of mechanical and electrical products in Guangdong's export products has increased. Data shows that in the first seven months, Guangdong exported 233 trillion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 7.4%, accounting for 67.8% of Guangdong's total export value and an increase of 3.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
Among them, the export of computers and their components reached 252.1 billion yuan, an increase of 12.5%; Electrical equipment amounted to 245.2 billion yuan, an increase of 18%; Integrated circuits reached 202.9 billion yuan, an increase of 30.9%; The export growth rate of products such as "new three types" (electric manned vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells), drones, and motorcycles is relatively fast, with growth rates exceeding 30%.
In terms of imported products, the driving effect of mechanical and electrical products is significant. In the first seven months, Guangdong imported 137 trillion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 17.4%, accounting for 70% of Guangdong's total import value.
Among them, integrated circuits, computers and their components, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment were imported at 718.2 billion yuan, 220.2 billion yuan, and 49.5 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 15.2%, 60%, and 48.7%. During the same period, imports of consumer goods such as grain, edible aquatic products, dairy products, beauty and cosmetics, and toiletries maintained rapid growth.
