Liu Dejun, spokesman of the China Maritime Police Bureau, said that on December 12, many Philippine vessels, under the banner of fishing, were determined to go to the waters of Xianbin Reef, the Nansha Islands, China, to make trouble and provoke despite the repeated dissuasions and warnings of the Chinese maritime police. The Chinese coast guard has taken necessary control measures such as issuing warnings and forcing Philippine vessels to evacuate in accordance with laws and regulations. China has indisputable sovereignty over the the Nansha Islands and the surrounding waters, including Xianbin Reef. The Chinese Coast Guard will continue to carry out rights protection and law enforcement activities in the waters under China's jurisdiction in accordance with the law, resolutely safeguarding national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
