The United States has added drones and their components manufactured by foreign companies including China's DJI to the "Covered List" and banned the import of new models. China has urged the revocation of relevant measures, stating that if the U.S. persists in its course, it will resolutely take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
According to combined reports from Reuters, Xinhua News Agency and the website of China's Ministry of Commerce, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Monday (December 22) added all foreign-manufactured drones and their components, including those from DJI Innovation and Autel Robotics—the world's largest drone manufacturer—to the "Covered List", and prohibited the approval of imports or sales of new drone models in the U.S.
The FCC has determined that the aforementioned foreign companies pose an unacceptable risk to U.S. national security.
China's Ministry of Commerce issued a statement late on Tuesday (23rd) expressing firm opposition, pointing out that the U.S. has repeatedly generalized the concept of national security and used state power to crack down on enterprises of other countries, which is a typical practice of market distortion and unilateral bullying.
At a regular press conference held on the same day, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that it firmly opposes the U.S. practice of generalizing the concept of national security, setting up discriminatory lists and unreasonably suppressing Chinese enterprises, and urged the U.S. to correct its wrong practices and provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory environment for the operation of Chinese enterprises.
